Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve contains a primeval forest that was saved from lumber harvesting in the 1870's by Colonel James Armstrong. A quiet road leads through the 500-acre grove. Short trails lead to two trees, each over 300 feet tall. The park is also home to gray foxes, bobcats, wood ducks and the 1,400 year old Colonel Armstrong Tree. The park is popular with hikers and equestrians. Austin Creek State Recreation Area is adjacent to the park.
The reserve is located two miles north of Guerneville on Armstrong Woods Road.
The park is wheelchair accessible.
